Modern 1 & 2 is part of the SOMA Conservatory family, created for dancers who are ready to explore movement beyond the classical tradition. This semester-long program introduces students to the fundamentals of modern dance while encouraging individuality, creativity, and strong technical development.
Parents and caregivers can expect their dancer to focus on alignment, strength, flexibility, and dynamic movement patterns, while also learning floorwork, improvisation, and the expressive qualities that make modern dance unique. Classes combine structure with creative exploration, helping students grow as versatile movers and confident performers.
This level requires a semester-long commitment and is designed for dancers who want to expand their artistry, deepen their body awareness, and strengthen their overall training within the conservatory program.
